About Grand Citizens
A youth-led charitable organization in Karachi, Pakistan, serving iftaar meals to underprivileged communities during Ramadan since 2019. What started as a group of friends has become a movement.
Give back to the community
Our mission is simple: ensure that no one in Karachi breaks their fast alone or hungry during Ramadan. We mobilize volunteers, collect community donations, and organize iftaar drives that bring people together over shared meals — regardless of background, class, or creed.
Radical Generosity
Every rupee counts. We push 85% of all donations directly to food, with the remaining 15% covering only logistics like transport and rental equipment.
Full Transparency
Every donation is tracked. Every expense is recorded. Our donors and volunteers can see exactly where their money and effort goes.
Youth-Powered
Founded and run entirely by young professionals and students in Karachi. No paid staff, no office rent, no overhead. Just passion and hustle.
Dignity First
We serve meals with respect and care. Our dastarkhwaans are set up properly with carpets, clean utensils, and organized service — because everyone deserves to eat with dignity.
From a WhatsApp group to a movement
The Beginning
Grand Citizens was founded by Hammaad Salman with a small group of friends. 7 iftaar events — 3 distributions and 4 dastarkhwaans — all organized over WhatsApp with pocket money and community donations.
The Return
After a pandemic pause, Grand Citizens came back stronger. Operations were formalized, a proper finance system was established, and the first large-scale dastarkhwaans were organized.
Scale-Up
The biggest year yet. Multiple dastarkhwaans serving 1,000+ people each, 250+ iftaar boxes per distribution, 40+ volunteers per drive, and donations pouring in from Pakistan and abroad.
Going Grand
15+ drives in a single Ramadan. Grand Dastarkhwaans at Indus Hospital and School Road. Technology introduced with custom volunteer management and finance portals. International donations via Zelle.
The Movement Grows
More drives, more locations, more volunteers, more impact. Grand Citizens is no longer just a charity — it is a movement of young Karachiites who believe in giving back.
